A permit was approved and issued yesterday for a new three-story residential building to be located at 4608 S Indiana Avenue in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood. The owner is listed as Red Van Construction Inc and plans indicate this project is a frame structure and will yield three total units. Each of the units will be outfitted with open wooden porches at the rear of the building and plans indicate there will also be three designated parking spaces on site. The development will replace a vacant lot.

Alexander Polichuk of AP Architects is listed as the architect of record for the upcoming project. While there aren’t any further details available at this time, the permit does indicate the presence of masonry contractors.

Future residents will find that transportation is readily available with the nearest bus service available for Route 47 at the 47th Street & Indiana stop via a three-minute walk south. The CTA Green Line can also be accessed at the 47th station via a six-minute walk southeast. There are many retail, dining, and lodging options in the vicinity, many of which are located within walking distance along 47th Street.

Keaney Construction, Inc will act as the general contractor for the $490,000 construction. A full timeline and an anticipated completion date have not yet been revealed.

  1. Every time I see one of these vacant lots being developed on the south or west sides, to me it’s probably more impactful than a super tall being planned for the downtown area. We have to first stabilize those areas before we can position them for prospering. If those areas are clean, safe, vibrant neighborhoods in which people can live, work and play, then downtown and other areas of the city already doing well can do even better.
