Construction Progresses on Mixed-Use Development at 2145 S Halsted Street in Pilsen

Construction is progressing on a new four-story mixed-use development at 2145 S Halsted Street in Pilsen. The interior lot is located along S Halsted Street between W Cermak Road and W 21st Place. The nearest public transportation is the 21 CTA bus accessed at the Cermak and Halsted stop at the end of the block. The Halsted CTA L station, serviced by the Orange Line, is a ten-minute walk away. Vision Group Investments LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications, reporting the development cost as $2,060,400.

The building will include residential and commercial components. The ground floor of the project will hold mercantile space, while the upper three floors will contain six residential units. The development will feature masonry construction and host five parking spaces for residents.

Recent photos show construction moving along well. Construction permits were issued in May 2020 for the project, signaling that this amount of work has occurred over the last five months. The masonry structure has risen a full three stories, with the four floor partially built. There looks to be small balconies on the sides of the front façade, framed using a metal structure. Openings in the façade indicate the inclusion of large windows for residential units. The ground-floor retail space is currently boarded up and fenced off, limiting views of the progress.

Christopher Boehm of 360 Design Studio is the architect for the project. JPL Development LLC is listed as the general contractor.

The site originally held a one-level commercial building which was demolished back in April 2019. The site then sat empty until construction began in May 2020. An estimated completion date for the project has not been announced.
