The Chicago Community Development Commission has approved financing for the residential development at 9633 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Pullman. Located north of the intersection with E 99th Street and surrounded by rail tracks, I-94, and Chicago State University, the project replaces a one-story commercial building near a heavily forested vacant lot. Part of the larger $1 billion in funding approved for affordable housing, developers Trinity United Church of Christ is working with Johnson and Lee Architects on the design of the multi-phase proposal.

Initial Details Revealed For Two Developments Near The Pullman National Monument

Initial details have been revealed for two new developments near the recently opened Pullman National Monument in Pullman. While we do not know the formal address for each, the first will be a hotel located just north of the intersection of E 111th Street and S Doty Avenue, with the other being a grocery store at the corner of E 130th Street and S Eberhart Avenue. Both of these will be replacing empty lots and are led by different developers, bringing much needed services to the quickly growing area.

The seven winners of the We Rise Together grant have been announced across the south and west sides in predominantly Black and Latino communities. The $6.7 million grant is the result of a program from the Chicago Community Trust that began in 2020 as the pandemic disproportionately affected communities of color and is aimed at assisting the areas recover. The National Parks service has opened The Pullman National Monument, Chicago’s first National Monument at 11001 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Pullman. Opening ceremonies for the complex took place over Labor Day weekend, a holiday which traces its origins back to the workers that made the Pullman Company into a passenger rail juggernaut with its iconic sleeper cars.
