Permit Granted For Loyola University To Begin Construction On Former Campion Hall Site

A foundation permit was issued Friday to allow Loyola University to begin construction on the new Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing and the College of Arts and Sciences. Addressed in the permit as 1144 West Loyola Avenue in Rogers Park, this is the former home of Campion Hall, which was demolished last year for the new facility. The construction site occupies the entire east side of the block spanning 6550 to 6600 North Sheridan Road between Albion and Loyola Avenues, one block north of the Loyola Red Line platform.

Campion Hall Mostly History Ahead Of Loyola University Redevelopment

Campion Hall on the Loyola University campus in Rogers Park is mostly rubble now, with only remnants of the east and south walls still remaining. Heneghan Wrecking is on site clearing the block-long property for Loyola’s future six-story nursing, forensic sciences, chemistry, and biochemistry facility for the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing and the College of Arts and Sciences.

Demolition Of The Centennial Forum Continues On The Loyola University Chicago Campus

The Centennial Forum, at 1125 W Loyola Avenue on the Loyola University Chicago campus in Rogers Park, is currently being demolished. We first visited the site back in May just as demo preparation got underway, and now the two-story concrete structure is about halfway torn down. That’s all the work of American Demolition, which received a demo permit from the City of Chicago on May 23.
