Construction progress has reached the sixth floor at 566 West Van Buren in the city’s West Loop neighborhood. That’s where Clark Construction and Adjustable Concrete Construction are erecting a 12-story, 199-unit apartment building for Riverside Investment & Development. The three concrete cores for stairways and elevators have risen about eight stories high.

The residential units form an L shape along Van Buren and South Jefferson Streets. Elevation rises no further than the first level on the northeast corner of the building, which abuts the rear alley and 321 South Jefferson next door. There are to be 42 indoor parking spaces, all located on the ground level. Antunovich Associates is the design architect.

Riverside filed an application to build here way back in July 2022; the foundation/superstructure permit didn’t come through until March 23 of this year, with the tower crane permitted 11 days prior. The full building was permitted on March 23. Permits for a construction hoist and a personnel hoist were issued in June. The project page on Riverside’s website targets an early 2027 delivery of dwelling units for new tenants.
