Construction is underway on a new residential development on the southwest corner of Washtenaw Avenue and Fullerton Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood. 2354 North Washtenaw Avenue will be a five-story, 20 unit building from developer and general contractor Wilmot Construction. They got a permit to replace a surface parking lot on July 2 of this year, which also lists Hanna Architects as building designers.
The permit calls for a 17-space parking garage and retail space on the ground level. A rooftop deck will cover a portion of the garage space. Residential units on the floors above will include decks and balconies.
Wilmot has another project in the works across the street at 2357 North Washtenaw. Construction hasn’t begun on that yet, but a demolition permit for the bank building that previously occupied the property was issued August 16, and by the time we took a look at the site, nine days later, nothing was left but a blank canvas. On the way here is a five-story, 16-unit building with a 13-space parking garage.
Residents of both developments will be within one block of CTA bus service on Routes 74 and 94, at the intersection of California and Fullerton. Three blocks to the west is a stop for the Route 56 bus. The nearest elevated train is the California Blue Line platform, about a quarter-mile southwest.

the California Blue Line stop is one block south and one block west of the project
Yeah, I was a little too far. We’ll call it about 1/4 mile.
