The tower crane is gone now that the Northwestern Medicine Bronzeville Outpatient Center at 4822 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Grand Boulevard is topped out. General contractors Power Construction and Ujamaa Construction have been on the job since breaking ground last year. Having reached the top side of the 5th and uppermost floor, cladding around the parking levels and glazing for the upper floors and street level should begin soon.
Designed by The Lamar Johnson Collaborative, the new five-story, 120.000-square-foot medical facility will include, among other features, an immediate care center, a cancer center with chemotherapy services, primary and specialty care services, and a pharmacy. There is an attached 237-stall parking garage, along with 3,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Northwestern Medicine plans to open the care center in fall 2025.
Visitors to the Northwestern Medicine Bronzeville Outpatient Center can park in the attached garage, or arrive via CTA bus service on Route 4, which stops at the corner of Cottage Grove and 48th. The east/west-running Route 47 bus stops to the north, and can be used to connect with the 47th Green Line station about a mile west.

I like how the parking garage was integrated in a way that didn’t scream, “PARKING GARAGE!”
The facility and hopefully it’s research center will add value to our hope for more support combatting cancer and its documented cluster in West Englewood. It’s location to the Greenline is a plus adding value to the Equitable Transit Oriented Development ETOD concepts.
