Test Facade Piece Spotted at 1325 W Fulton Market Site

YIMBY spotted what appears to be a test facade piece on the lot of 1325 W Fulton Market, a project developed by Sterling Bay and designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Located at the west end of the rising Fulton Market neighborhood, the site is located at the corner of W Fulton Market and N Ada Street, just across from Sterling Bay’s Fulton West at 1330 W Fulton Market. Nearby bus transit is a nine-minute walk southwest to the 9 route’s Ashland & Lake stop, as well as a nine-minute walk southeast to the 19 route’s Washington & Racine bus stop. Nearby CTA L stops include a seven-minute walk southwest to Ashland Station and a ten-minute walk southeast to Morgan Station, both of which are serviced by the Green and Pink Lines.

The office and retail development will include massive 54,881-square-foot floor plates, some of the largest in the area. In light of these floor plate sizes, Curbed reported in April that Sterling Bay would have to seek city approval to continue construction.

The test piece shown consists of larger glass panels, a metallic gray vertical beam alongside the windows, and a set of similar metallic gray panels at the base, presumably where the floors will be divided.

A single rendering is available on the Sterling Bay site, depicting massive plates and cut-out outdoor terraces, Although it is unclear if this design is official or just conceptual, the rendering does show some similarity to the facade piece. Details regarding the height, floor count, and square footage are not listed.

Permits have not yet been filed, though a completion date is slated for 2022.
