A construction permit has been granted for a new community roller rink and plaza located at 4012 W Madison Street in West Garfield Park. This public space will be managed by the Chicago Park District and will be replacing a vacant lot that had been used as a temporary rink and plaza in the past. The landscape architect for the project is Site Design Group.
No new parking will be provided. Closest transit options to the property consist of bus service for Routes 20 and 53, which are located just paces east at Madison & Pulaski. Additionally, the closest CTA L service can be found for both the Green and Blue Lines at the two Pulaski stations. These are situated an eight-minute walk to the north and a 12-minute walk to the south, respectively.
The general contractor for the project is Speedy Gonzalez Landscaping at a reported construction cost of $943,000. At the moment, an updated completion date for the new rink has not been identified.
