Exterior renovation work continues to take shape for the new Guinness Taproom and Brewery in Fulton Market. Owned by Fred Latsko, the former Pennsylvania Railroad Terminal Building at 375 N Morgan Street is being developed by Guinness as part of a deal that was finalized last year. Once a popular street art canvas, the converted beer hub will now contain a 10-barrel brewery, a pub, and a restaurant serving local chef cuisine.

The original brickwork and interior structure will be kept to preserve the building’s history, while updates like a chocolate-colored brick facade, warehouse-style windows, and copper metal paneling will bring it into the modern era. The inside of the brewery will have an old world feel with brick walls and beams, a chandelier, and a big glass wall system for people to watch the brewing process.

Public transportation options in the vicinity include Route 65 (north to Grand & Morgan), Route 8 (northeast to Halsted & Hubbard), and Route 56 (northeast to Milwaukee, Grand, & Halsted). All bus stops are a five- or six-minute walk from the property. The L is also accessible nearby for the Green, Pink, and Blue Lines all within approximately a 10-minute walk.

Clune Construction is serving as the general contractor for the project. Site owner Fred Latsko also plans for a story 40-story residential tower on the west end of the site, which was announced earlier this year. Given that this segment of the lot is currently being used for staging, a groundbreaking is not expected to occur until at least after the brewery is complete next year.

Neither Aberdeen nor Lasko have anything to do with the Brewery buildout. they have the shell only.

40 story tower on east end? Building buts up to Peoria St on the East end. Did you mean West end of property?

    • You are correct I’m so used to looking south at this brewery from the north that those two directions got mixed up – should be fixed!

  3. The project feels like it’s progressing slower than some skyscrapers. Are the applying face brick over what’s there to add the brown color? Or are they planning to paint it?

  4. This thing is going to keep getting tagged FOREVER, lol.
