Permits Issued for Mixed-Use Development at 920 E 43rd Street in Oakland

Full construction permits have now been filed for 920 E 43rd Street, where developer DOM Properties Investment is planning a four-story mixed-use building. The Oakland development will house 33 total residential units atop 3,800 square feet of retail space. The residences will range from one-bedroom up to three-bedroom layouts.

Pro-Plan Architects PC is the architect of record. The primary facade materials involve a mix of charcoal-colored brick and cement panels. Additional architectural elements include stone accents, Juliet balconies along the front, and hanging balconies on the sides and rear.

Parking spaces for 33 vehicles is included. As for bus access, stops for Route 43 are located a one-minute walk west to E 43rd Street and S Drexel Boulevard. Additional bus service for Route 4 is available via a four-minute walk west. For those wishing to board the CTA L Green Line, closest access can be found via a 16-minute walk west to 43rd station.

Outdoor space in the vicinity includes open green space and a playground area directly across 43rd Street, as well as a trail space along the widened Drexel Boulevard just to the west. The lakefront is within a 15-minute walk east.

No demolition permits are required given that the construction will replace a currently vacant grass lot. DOM Properties Investment is also serving as general contractor for the $4 million project. An anticipated completion date is not yet known.
