1010 South Wells Rises To Its 15th Floor In South Loop

1010 South Wells August 2026 construction update1010 South Wells makes its presence known along the South Branch of the Chicago River.

Vertical progress by Brandts Build has reached the 15th floor on the residential tower at 1010 South Wells Street, the first building under construction for CMK Companies’ Riverline development in the South Loop. With the help of concrete contractor Goebel Forming, that’s 11 floors of concrete poured since we last dropped by the site in June, leaving six levels to go before they top out at 21 stories.

From the east side of the construction site, the building’s wavy façade is evident in the residential floors. There don’t appear to be any panels of exterior glass stored inside the structure yet, but once those begin installation, the facades will really start showing out.

Immediately north of the construction site is a surface parking lot that remains a surface parking lot. However, a permit to start sinking piles into the soil for the second Riverline residential tower at 910 South Wells Street was issued in July, so those parking spaces’ days are numbered. There has been no official word yet as to when that work will begin.

1010 South Wells, a design from Gensler, will deliver 388 rental units with 182 parking spaces and nearly 3,000 square feet of retail space. There has not yet been confirmation on a projected opening date.
