A new construction permit has been issued by the city to build a daycare facility at 3351 West 59th Street in Chicago Lawn. The permit had been pending in the Chicago Data Portal since the final day of January 2024, finally coming through on March 4 after a 763-day wait. The reported cost is $350,000.

The masonry building will be a single story with a basement level. No other details, such as outdoor play spaces or staff parking, are included. Architectonic Solutions, Inc is named as the architect of record, and Compass Restoration of Berwyn is the general contractor.
The owner named in the permit is Isaura Hernandez, and real estate records show their purchase of the building in 2017. A permit was issued in 2019 to do some interior work, while citing that a full renovation permit awaited. But that renovation permit was never issued, and instead the city ordered the an emergency teardown in March 2021. The daycare center will now fill in the vacant lot.

The subject parcel is located just off the southeast corner of 59th Street and South Homan Avenue. 59th Street is the boundary between Chicago Lawn to the south and Gage Park to the north. Monarcas Academy is directly across the street.
For daycare staff and parents wishing to use public transit to drop off and pick up their children, the #59 bus stops at the corner of Homan Avenue and 59th Street. Northbound and southbound Route 52 and 52A buses stop three blocks east at South Kedzie Avenue.
