The Lake Property Owner LLC is developing the facility, with GREC Architects as the architect of record. There have not yet been official renderings revealed to the public for the project, which saw the demolition of a pair of vintage brick buildings at Superior and Wells Streets to clear the site. The five-story club will include restaurant space, a spa, and an as-yet undisclosed number of hotel guest rooms.

As this is the heart of the River North social scene, The Lake is within a variety of public transit options. The construction permits for the club do not include any parking spaces.

The Chicago Brown/Purple Line elevated platform is at the west end of the block, at Franklin Street. Route 66 buses stop one block north on Chicago Avenue, and Route 156 buses run a block east on LaSalle Street. The 22 Clark bus runs southbound two blocks east and northbound three blocks away, on Dearborn Street.

  1. Criminal what they did on this site, and for a club that will more than likely be for lease within 2-3 years of opening joining the rest of the empty commercial spaces littering this city

    • The people building this club are willing to bet a lot of money that that won’t happen.

      • The people building this club obviously have no sophistication or appreciation of history, they tore down a great pre-fire building and probably one of the city’s best cast iron facades. They could have had their pick of any number of properties but decided to destroy a classic Chicago building. Money does not buy class.

  2. This would have been a perfect opportunity to provide more parking for the neighborhood, now that that ugly old building is gone. But now they are building this, but no parking! Where is everyone going to park? Horrible planning!

  3. 16.8 million for a 5 story build sounds crazy, Tupper remember you are always being watched 🧐
