A 1903-built residence at 2924 South Loomis Street in Bridgeport is being doubled in size, thanks to an addition on its side yard next door. The existing three-story multi-unit building is also being renovated as part of the ongoing project. Prairie Home Builders is the general contractor.
A renovation permit issued by the City of Chicago in October of last year granted permission to add a three-story addition on the lot south of the existing structure. The permit doesn’t mention the number of new units; there are three homes in the current building. The addition will have a rooftop deck. A pair of garages on the alley were demolished, and are being replaced with a four-vehicle masonry garage with a roof deck.
A second permit, issued in May of this year, gave authorization for the addition of a fourth unit in the existing building by extending the new building top floor onto 2924’s uppermost floor. The new garage’s rooftop will also get a pergola, trellis, and cabinetry, while adding an extra 67 square feet of deck space.
2924 South Loomis Street is located within a block of CTA bus service via Route 62 at Archer Avenue. Route 31 buses are within a two-block walk south. Platforms for Orange Line trains are located half a mile west, at Ashland, and about three-quarters of a mile east, at Halsted.

Please magically forward to all of the northside developers that insist on tearing down perfectly fine two and three flats rather than expand and renovate them.
