Concrete is in the ground for the foundation of 1506 West Henderson Street, a two-unit residential development coming to Lake View. A project by developer and general contractor V & M Development, the new building will be three stories plus a basement. A private rooftop deck and a rear covered deck at the first floor indicate these units might consist of one duplex-down and one duplex-up condominiums. The architecture is by 360 Design Studio, and will include a detached two-car garage providing each unit with one parking space. The new construction permit was issued by the City Of Chicago on July 22 of this year.
Separate permits were issued on August 19 for demolition of the residence and coach house on the site. Tir Conaill Concrete was listed as the demo contractor for both structures. According to Redfin, the home, built in 1897, sold in July for $929,000.
Residents of these two units will live within one block of CTA bus service via Route 9 at Ashland Avenue. For east-west travel, the Route 77 bus runs three blocks south on Belmont Avenue. The nearest L access is the Southport Brown Line platform, just three blocks northeast.
