The current construction is part of a larger mixed-use scheme called Gateway, bringing a mix of retail, residential, and office space to this northwest corner of the neighborhood. As of now, the plan has seen the completion of two other components: two single-story retail buildings and a newly completed apartment building named Cadence, which has ground-level retail. Additionally, plans for office buildings are slated for the northern section of the site.

Designed by Piekarz Associates, the hotel’s massing steps back slightly towards its edges. The facade will be clad in ACM paneling in four colors, red signage, and will include a motor court situated beneath a port au cochere.

Numerous public transportation options surround the property. Route 50, the nearest bus service, is a minute’s walk northeast of Damen & Ogden, with additional bus service for Routes 7, 12, 126, and 157. The Illinois Medical station via a seven-minute walk northeast, provides access to CTA L trains, while Pink Line service is accessible from Polk station via a nine-minute walk to the east.

    Incredible!

  2. I wish a site plan had been included. From the pictures and the areal, it looks like an incredibly suburban layout.

  3. Being on the nexus of north, south, and west sides with all the public transport connections making IMD, the gateway, and tech park a suburban car sewer is a waste.
