Between the intersections of Bronzeville‘s Bowen Avenue and 42nd Street along Cottage Grove Avenue, facade work is approaching completion for new four-story mixed-use building at 4137 S Cottage Grove Avenue. This construction by DOM Properties Investment will yield 5,200 square feet of ground-floor retail, divided into two commercial units. Topping this retail component are 48 apartment dwellings, ranging from one- to two-bedroom residences.

There will be four apartment configurations, with the number of bedrooms to bathrooms being 1:1, 1:2, 2:1, and 2:2. Residences will include features such as washers and dryers, private balconies, and modern interior finishes. Parking will consist of 50 total spaces, 27 of which will be in an at-grade garage and the remaining 23 on a surface parking in the rear.

Pro-Plan Architects is behind the design, whose facade will incorporate a palette of darker fiber cement paneling, as well as red brickwork with tan accents. The building has a relatively high length-to-width ratio, spanning the entire western end of the block.

Closest CTA bus service can be found for Route 4, situated at the building’s southwest corner. Also in the vicinity, Route 43 is a three-minute walk from the property at 43rd and Cottage Grove, while Route 39 is available within a seven-minute walk to Pershing & Cottage Grove. For rail service, the CTA L’s Green Line can be found via a 20-minute walk northwest at Indiana station.

D.O.M Properties is also serving as general contractor. While significant progress can be seen, the anticipated completion date is not currently known.
