Demolition has completed, with equipment now on-site for a planned two-story retail building penned for Near North Side‘s 113 E Oak Street, just west of Magnificent Mile’s northern end. Filed under the name 113 E Oak Street LLC, the 5,050-square-foot structure will be distributed evenly between both floors.
The project architect Ware Malcomb has envisioned a dark gray brick facade and soaring floor-to-ceiling windows. As shown in renderings, prominent signage will also be made available directly above the entrance, though the exact tenant or tenants have not yet been announced.
While no on-site parking will be provided, shoppers and tenants will find an array of nearby transportation options, with the closest bus service for Route 151 nearly adjacently east at Michigan & Oak. Other buses for Routes 143, 146, 147 and 148 can all be found within one block south. Anyone looking to board the CTA L will find the Red Line at Chicago station available within a nine-minute walk southwest.
The site lies between two major shopping areas, with a slew of retail and dining options to the west and northwest within the Rush & Division neighborhood, as well as to the south along Magnificent Mile.
Summit Design + Build is overseeing the construction for the $1.5 million development. An exact completion timeframe has not yet been indicated.
