Construction permits have been issued for a three-story residential building located at 6428 S Maryland Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. Owned by Mike Slazas, the development is set to contain four total units, a basement, a rear three-story open wood porch, and parking for four cars. Currently, the site is occupied by a vacant lot. Given the larger size of the property and its differing address of 6246 S Maryland Avenue, it is unclear if the new structure will occupy the lot in its entirety or just a portion.
Prashanth Mahakali of PMPC Architects is the architect of record. No drawings or renderings have yet been revealed, though the filing description has indicated a frame design.
Residents will find north and southbound bus transit for Route 4 via a three-minute walk northwest to Cottage Grove & 64th Street. For the CTA L, service for the Green Line can also be located by a five-minute walk north to Cottage Grove station.
Various outdoor spaces lie within close proximity, including Mamie Till-Mobley Park and 65th & Woodlawn Community Garden to the east. The southeast corner of the 372-acre Washington Park is also a 10-minute walk northwest.
