Work has topped out for a residential renovation project at 1248 N Paulina Street in Wicker Park. The existing two-story frame building will have an additional third floor built above, as well as a new attached two-car garage with an accompanying roof deck.
A construction permit issued this past June indicates multiple existing units in the building, with the occupying owners listed as James Clough and Suzanne Belinson. The permit also shows John T. Joyce as the architect of record. While no renderings have yet been revealed, multiple masonry contractors indicate that the renovation will integrate a new brick or stone exterior.
Located just northwest of the major three-point intersection of Division, Ashland, & Milwaukee, the property is in the vicinity of multiple bus lines. The nearest route is the northwest and southeast-bound Route 56, which can be found via Milwaukee & Paulina, less than a one-minute walk to the northeast. Other routes include the east and westbound Route 70 which is a two-minute walk south, and the north and southbound 9 and X9 buses at Ashland & Milwaukee via a five-minute walk southeast.
The nearest CTA L availability is for the Blue Line, which can be found at Division station a five-minute walk southeast.
Designed Concepts Construction is serving as the general contractor for the $165,000 project. A completion date appears likely for early next year.
