Construction permits have been issued for a three-story residential building at 1118 W Newport Avenue in Lake View. The owner and developer, listed under John Downes Construction Inc, is also planning a detached three-car garage with a roof deck. The structure will replace a two-story residential building with stone siding.

While no architect is listed, Michael S. Cox is listed as the structural engineer, likely serving as the architect of record for the project as well. While no renderings have yet been revealed, the recent filing description indicates that the exterior will be comprised of masonry.

Transportation in the area includes nearby stops for the northwest and southeast bound Route 22 bus, located two blocks east along N Clark Street. Additional east and westbound Route 152 access can be found via a six-minute walk northeast to Clark & Addison. Residents wishing to access the east and westbound Route 77 bus can walk seven minutes south to Belmont & Seminary.

Nearest CTA L access for the Brown Line can be found at Southport station, located a seven-minute walk southwest. The Red Line, meanwhile, can be found at Addison station, located an eight-minute walk northeast. A third station, Belmont station, has access to the Brown, Red, and Purple Lines and can be found via a slightly further 11-minute walk southeast.

John Downes Construction Inc. is also serving as the general contractor for the $700,000 site. An expected completion date has not yet been listed.
