Demolition permits were issued last week to clear a two-story residential building at 1357 N Dean Street in Wicker Park. The structure was not subject to emergency removal, but had experienced a fire with no resulting injuries late last year, according to a tweet by Chicago Fire Media.

The previously-occupying structure was a wood-frame multi-unit building, owned by Keith A. Miller. The narrow property sits at the corner of N Dean Street and an unnamed alley, across from the two-third acre Dean Playground Park. Running parallel just one block west is the major commercial corridor of N Milwaukee Avenue.

For transit options in the area, Route 56 can be accessed along Milwaukee, with the nearest Milwaukee & Wolcott/Wood bus stop a three-minute walk west. Route 9 can also be found via a four-minute walk west to Ashland & Blackhawk. The CTA L Blue Line’s Division station can be found a six-minute walk southeast, while Damen station, also on the Blue Line, is an 11-minute walk northwest. The Kennedy Expressway can also be accessed via a two-minute drive northeast.

All Concrete Chicago Inc is listed as the wrecking contractor, and Agata J. Bielut as the expeditor. No details have been released regarding what will replace the former structure, nor what the timeframe will be.
