Photos show work is underway on the 21,000-square-foot, all-inclusive wellness club Bian in River North. Developed by Boka Group, the private club is located at the southern entrance of the seven-acre Montgomery Ward building, built in 1907.
Montgomery Ward’s official address is 600 W Chicago Avenue, just east of the Chicago River’s north branch. Nearby bus transit includes the Chicago & Larrabee stop for Route 66. Additional CTA L access includes a seven-minute walk east to the Brown and Purple Line’s Chicago station, as well as a 12-minute walk southwest to the Blue Line’s Grand station. Additional access includes a five-minute walk south to both Larrabee Dog Park and Ward Park.
According to an article from Chicago Business, the development team led by Kevin Boehm, a co-founder of Boka Development Group, has partnered with Joseph Fisher and Robb Leone to create a comprehensive wellness space. Amenities yield a variety of health, social, and working activities for its members, including a fitness center, a co-working space, yoga and Pilates studios, a medical center, and a nap room.
The architect, Studio K, has planned a modern interior that adapts to the different contexts. The original loft aesthetic blends seamlessly with a more modern, concrete design. This new interior is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
