We Will Chicago Releases a Draft for Public Input

A draft of the We Will Chicago framework plan has been released, offering an initial look at what would be the first citywide plan in more than 50 years. As previously reported “We Will Chicago” is the first citywide initiative of its kind since the “1966 Comprehensive Plan.” We Will’s efforts are still evolving, but the three-year citywide planning initiative prioritizes equity, resiliency, and engagement to create an inclusive vision for the future of Chicago.

Mayor Lightfoot Announces Updated Plans for Future of Lakefront Museum Campus

On July 7th, the office of Mayor Lori E Lightfoot issued a press release including a report detailing future plans for the iconic Chicago Museum Campus. The Mayor’s office unveiled a museum campus working group in February to help present recommendations “for new campus activations through arts and culture, transportation, education, youth services, and more.” The working group is composed of leaders and policymakers from around Chicago with experience in “key issue areas.” Their focus includes solving for needed cultural amenities, expanding publically accessible recreation space, maximizing athletic facilities, and creating more equitable transit access.

Mayor Lightfoot Unveils Citywide Vision for Connected Network of Trails and Corridors

A release issued at the end of March outlined an upcoming plan led by Mayor Lori Lightfoot in partnership with Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) commissioner Gia Biagi, Department of Planning and Development (DPD) commissioner Maurice Cox, and Chicago Park District interim general superintendent and CEO Rosa Escareño to expand trails and open space networks throughout the city.
