The second tower for CMK Companies’ Riverline development received its pile permit on July 14, allowing construction to begin on the 28-story residential building at 910 South Wells Street in the South Loop. Those piles had been waiting in the Chicago Data Portal since February 27. The permit cites a reported cost of $1.25 million, and it’s rather specific, calling for 225 piles that will be driven to an approximate depth of 77 feet. A pending permit for the complete tower shows an application start date of January 14.

910 South Wells, like 1010 South Wells, the first Riverline tower next door, is a design by Gensler and will be erected by Brandts Build as the general contractor. It will contain 350 dwelling units, 137 parking spaces, and 3,300 square feet of retail space. A timeline for pile driving and vertical construction has not yet been announced, nor it is clear if it will begin before 1010 South Wells is done. But at least we know with a permit in place, it can.
On the adjacent lot to the north, 1010 South Wells is growing much more rapidly now that Brandts Build has risen above the podium and on to the residential levels. On our most recent visit, on the 8th of this month, progress had reached the underside of the 11th floor, eight stories above the podium. On June 3, they had reached the underside of the sixth story.
