Zoning has been fully approved for the upcoming mixed-use hotel development at 3257 North Halsted Street in Lake View. Located at the corner of West Aldine Avenue, in the heart of North Halsted/Boystown, the LGBTQ+-focused proposal was originally revealed last year by developer Allan O’Brien, who also owns Men’s Room Chicago down the street.

The six-story building, designed by local firm Jonathan Splitt Architects, would replace an existing two-story commercial building that has been vacant for several years. The hotel will feature a large ground-floor bar and restaurant with a patio along Halsted. This will be joined by a small lobby and a basement speakeasy bar/lounge.

The upper floors will house 52 hotel rooms, with those along the main corner featuring balconies of varying sizes. Topping the building will be a large rooftop bar and pool deck with a retractable roof for year-round use. This space will include small cabanas and loungers, and the pool will offer views to the south toward the skyline.

The building will be clad in a mix of dark- and light-toned brick, with ribbed panels featuring Pride flag colors as accents. There will be two on-site parking spaces, with additional parking arranged through nearby lots. The development team has received zoning approval from the Board of Appeals and has submitted construction permits, which are currently under review.
