In August, we told you about a permit issued for new construction at 2129 North Damen Avenue in Bucktown, and now two demolition permits have been issued to get that development started. The City of Chicago signed off on the wrecking ball for 2127 and 2129 North Damen on Friday, September 6. Both buildings have been boarded up and empty for some time now, and this makes their demises official.
Real estate sites vary on their estimates of the build years for these two structures, but the consensus has 2129 North Damen built around 1900, and 2127 North Damen built around 1914.
A four-story, six-unit building will get started upon completion of demo work. The property will include retail space and parking for two cars on the ground floor, plus a detached four-car garage at the rear of the property. Hanna Architects did the design work. The construction permit, issued August 22, names the entity of Development Group LLC Fulton Market Branch as the developer, with BM UK Enterprise Company as the general contractor. The estimated cost of construction is just under $3.1 million.

I would fix it up and use it for migrants or even homeless
Then I’m glad that you don’t own it.
That was home for over 12 years. There has long been a guardian, loving spirit in 2127. And the humans have more often than not been awesome, loving, giving examples of our species. I am thankful that I was brought there, however this Universe Thingy works. Peace, Old Home.
