Foundation work has begun at 224 South Ashland Avenue on the Near West Side. Here, 4Corners Real Estate is developing a five-story, 56-unit apartment building on the site of the former home of Loop Lawyers. That structure, at 220 South Ashland, got a demolition permit on April 14, 2022, with Taylor Excavating performing the demo work. A new construction permit was issued January 6, 2023, which, after a bit of a delay, was reinstated on February 22 of this year.

Vivify Construction is the general contractor for the apartment building, designed by Axios Architects. A rendering on 4Corners’ website shows a two-tone brick and stone façade, with balconies overlooking Ashland Avenue. The lobby entrance sits dead-center of the structure. The permit calls for a parking garage with one space per unit, and a loading dock located off the alley at the rear of the property.
