Facade pieces are being installed for a new Aldi grocery store at 3930 N Kilpatrick Avenue in Portage Park. Occupying a previously vacant lot, the single-story retail venue will provide 21,000 square feet of space and 67 surface parking spaces.
The design of the store by APD Engineering & Architecture, features a curved entrance on the south side, blending white fiber cement, metal, and masonry. The prominent blue “Aldi” signs have also now been added.
The site is accessible via public transportation, with nearby bus stops serving Routes 54, 54A, 56, and 80. Additionally, the Montrose Avenue station on the CTA Blue Line is a 16-minute walk to the east.
The construction, led by G.A. Johnson & Son, is reported to cost $3.2 million, as stated in the permits. The store is expected to open later this year.

There should have been housing on top of this thing.
I second that.
Yes! Such a wasted opportunity.
I always thought this would be in the ground floor of the Clarendale. Don’t know why that changed
Terrible waste to not put housing on top. Projects like these should not be approved. Especially in a growing area like this with so many projects being built. Total short sighted waste.
