Cladding installation has started on a five-story residential structure located at 913 W School Street in Lake View. The Hageman Group plans to have a total of 22 apartments, which will include four studios, eight one-bedrooms, eight two-bedrooms, and two three-bedroom apartments. Nearly half of the residences will have outdoor access, in which four of the units will have balconies and another six will have terraces.
The masonry contemporary design of Studio Dwell incorporates a concrete exterior on the bottommost level, followed by three floors consisting of brick walls, and the uppermost floor adorned with metal panels. The floor-to-ceiling windows will be arranged in variably-spaced patterns around the facade. Meanwhile, vegetation will be planted within the ground-level landscaping and along the rooftop terraces.
Route 22 bus transit can be found at School & Clark, while Belmont station offers L service for the Red, Purple, and Brown Lines. There will also be parking available on site for 12 vehicles as well as storage space for eight bikes.
Apex Construction is serving as the general contractor for the $2.5 million project. An exact completion date has not been revealed, though work appears on track to complete by early next year.

The windows in the rendering weren’t great, but the (almost) finished product is just bad design.
Quick scroll through the Hageman Group’s real estate page suggest this may be their first Chicago project. Their portfolio shows mostly urban restoration, semi-urban 5-over-1s, and suburban shopping/medical centers, so doesn’t look like they’re experienced in this type of urban neighborhood development yet.
