Permits were issued early this week for a new two-and-half-story residential building at 6126 S Eberhart Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. The permit owner is listed as Patrick O’Brien, and the description indicates this will be a three-flat frame construction on the currently vacant lot. The building will feature rear egress stairs and a concrete parking pad with three spaces. The property will be fenced.
Kathryn Shahbaz O’Brien is listed as the architect of record for this project. No drawings or renderings have been disclosed at this time, however, a masonry component is expected.
The CTA Green Line can be accessed at the Cottage Grove station via a 12-minute walk southeast. The nearest bus available is Route 59 and it can be found at the 61st Street & St. Lawrence stop via a four-minute walk north. Several grocery and dining options are available within a five-minute walk of the future property site.
O’Brien & O’Brien will be the general contractor for the $450,000 build. A complete timeline and an anticipated completion date have not yet been revealed.

I hope Englewood starts getting as many holes filled as Woodlawn and Bronzeville have over the past few years.
