First floor construction continues to take shape at 133 S Ashland Avenue, a four-story residential building rising near the southwest corner of West Loop. Permits issued in September 2020 have listed 133 Ashland Land LLC as the owner behind the development, with plans for 89 condominium units.
SPACE Architects + Planners conceived of the design, whose elevations and renderings have not yet been made available. However, current construction progress hints at a red brick facade that’s much in line with the surrounding neighborhood aesthetic.
There will be 120 off-street parking spaces, as well as bus service for Route 9 at the adjacent corner of Ashland & Adams. Also within walking distance are Routes X9 and 20 via a four-minute walk north to Ashland & Madison. Stops for Route 126 can be found via a five-minute walk south to the intersections of Jackson & Ashland and Van Buren & Ashland. The CTA L’s Blue Line can be found via a 13-minute walk south to Racine station, while the Green and Pink Lines are a 13-minute walk northwest to Ashland station.
The construction price tag has been listed as $10 million, in which Vivify Construction is serving as general contractor. While not confirmed by the developer, listings on websites like Loopnet indicate a completion date for this year.
