A permit was issued yesterday for a new three-story residential building at 6637 S Maryland Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. The owner is listed as Eagle Opportunity Fund, and plans indicate this project will yield three total dwelling units. Each unit will be outfitted with an open deck and rear stair access. The plans also indicate the presence of a three-vehicle garage behind the structure. The development will replace a previously vacant lot.
Gary Wand is listed as the architect of record. At the time of this writing, no drawings or renderings have been disclosed.
The CTA Green Line can be accessed at the Cottage Grove station via a ten-minute walk north. The Route 4 bus can also be accessed at Cottage Grove. The next closest bus services available are Routes 5, 67, and 95 can be found at 67th Street & Drexel via a two-minute walk southeast. There are many retail and dining options on the 63rd Street corridor.
Allbright Construction LLC will act as the general contractor for the $450,000 construction. A full timeline and an anticipated completion date have not yet been revealed.

It’s good to see so much infill happening in Bronzeville and Woodlawn. Hopefully momentum picks up and they can re-densify to a respectable level. This is the type of investment we are not seeing in Englewood which many parts of look like the deep south.
