A demolition permit has been issued for a two-story, masonry building at 1402 S Western Avenue in the Near West Side neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as 1860 N Elston LLC. As of the time of this writing, no plans appear to have been submitted to upgrade any of the zoning designations for this property and there are currently no plans for any future construction.
The closest bus service for Routes 18 & 49 can be found at the intersection of Western & 14th Street directly in front of the current building. The nearest CTA access is the Pink Line at the 18th station via a 25-minute walk southeast. There are a number of popular restaurants and retail options along S Western Avenue.
Evergreen Construction Company is serving as the demolition contractor. At the time of this writing, no construction permits have been filed or issued.
