Construction permits have been issued for a four-story residential building situated at 1917 S Jefferson Street in East Pilsen. The development, filed under 1917 Jefferson Partners, LLC, will provide four total units, as well as a basement, a rooftop deck, and rooftop stair enclosure. Parking will consist of a two-car garage integrated in the first floor, as well as a detached two-car garage. The developer had also received an approval in 2019 to integrate residential use in the ground floor. The new structure is set to replace a previously vacant lot.
John Hanna of Hanna Architects is behind the design. No drawings or renderings have yet been revealed, though multiple masonry contractors listed in the filing likely suggest a brick design.
Closest bus transit consists of stops for Route 21 via a five-minute walk south to Cermak & Lumber. Additional buses for Routes 8 and 62 are located an eight-minute walk west to Halsted & Cullerton. The three closest CTA L stations consist of the Red Line at Cermak-Chinatown station via a 16-minute walk southeast, the Orange Line at Halsted station viaan 18-minute walk southwest, and the Green Line at Cermak-McCormick Place station via a 21-minute walk southeast. Meanwhile, those looking to board the Metra will find Halsted Street station via an 11-minute walk northwest.
Residents will have green space in close proximity, with Jefferson Park located a four-minute walk north. Other parks in the area consist of Ping Tom Memorial Park to the east and Dvorak Park to the west.
Every Veteran Counts LLC is serving as general contractor for the $805,200 construction. A completion timeline has not yet been listed.
