A two-flat residence has been permitted for construction by the City of Chicago for a vacant lot at 724 West 26th Street in Bridgeport. A private developer applied for the permit on September 13 of last year, and it came through on January 22 with a reported cost of $500,000.

The three-story with basement, two-unit building is to include back porches on all three above-grade levels, with stairs leading down to the basement, and a concrete stairway at the front entrance. David Madia is named as the architect of record, and Sligo Construction Inc of Oak Forest is the general contractor. It is not known if these will be rental or for-sale units, but the two units across four floors indicates one duplex-down and one duplex-up. There are two open lots here, at 724 and 722 West 26th, but there is no pending permit for the east parcel.

The property backs up to a dead-end alley and a surface parking lot. A two-car frame garage will be built on that alley, accessed from West 25th Place. The exit ramp from the Stevenson Expressway to the Kennedy passes by just above street level.
