As previously reported, developer and general contractor Mavrek Development will erect a five-story, 46-unit residential building designed by Eckenhoff Saunders Architects upon completion of the demo work. The permit identifies 37 efficiencies and nine dwelling units for the floor plans, along with just six surface parking spaces and “associated site work.” An express permit for the stormwater management plan was issued on July 25.

Demolition contractor A. G. Coyle remains on site as the teardown approaches the home stretch.  As of Wednesday August 6th most everything from the rear up to the storefront windows is gone, with work to be done on the west end of the site and in the deep foundations. Several pallets of bricks from the building have been palletized and were boing loaded onto a truck for hauling away.

  1. I’m no demolition expert but I walked under that sidewalk canopy this past weekend. I was a little surprised…concerned…shocked . . .that I could have reached around the flimsy tarp-like material covering the former storefronts and cut myself on several large, dangling shards of window glass.

  2. I will continue to say this is a horribly lost opportunity. We will forever be blest with the 5 story bland building. Put them on all the streets! Bring the big windows. Bring the Hardie Board. False Brick is great. It’s so sad to see the NY YIMPY…we could have nice things…
