The Lawndale Christian Development Corporation has received permission this month to build 10 affordable single-family homes in the North Lawndale neighborhood. Eight permits were issued on June 10, one on June 9, and one on June 5. Their applications were filed between November 2024 and January of this year, and each permit shows a reported construction cost of $300,000.
Each residence is to be two stories with no basements. No parking, either surface or garage, is mentioned. The homes carry the same specifications as those permitted for The Resurrection Project in Back of the Yards. Deon Lucas of Beehyyve is again named as the architect of record, with Toro Construction Corp of Orland Park listed as the general contractor for four of these houses. J & J Home Builders LLC of Oak Park will construct the remaining six homes.

Google Street View images show two of them completed. 1623 South Avers is a modular home that records show sold in November 2021, while 1621 South Avers is a wood frame structure that was purchased in 2022. Neither home is a Beehyyve design.

Really wonderful to see these projects moving forward on vacant lots in these neighborhoods. Occupied lots are a key to these communities thriving, as they attract grocery stores, restaurants, shops, etc.
