The City of Chicago has issued a new construction permit for a three-story with basement, three-unit residential building at 1029 North Winchester Avenue in East Village. An application was filed for the new development on February 14, and the permit was issued March 12. Schiller Development Incorporated is named as the developer and general contractor, with an estimated build cost of $1.24 million.

Details include a detached three-car garage at the back of the property, access from the alley connecting Augusta Boulevard and Thomas Street. The main residence will have rear terraces on all three floors connected by a stairway, plus a deck and stair enclosure on the roof. The garage will also feature a rooftop deck. Hanna Architects is in charge of the design work.

The existing home will require demolition, which has not yet been permitted. Built in 1898, real estate records show it was purchased by the developer back in November 2007.

Residents of 1029 North Winchester will live within a two-block walk of CTA bus service via Route 50 on Damen Avenue, and Route 70 on Division Street. There is a Divvy rack on the corner of Damen and Thomas. The Division Blue Line subway station is just over half a mile to the northeast; the 70 bus can be used to cut down on walking time.
