Atlas Industries has most of the demolition work done at 400 North Elizabeth Street in the Fulton Market District, with little else left to do but clear rubble from the site. Two buildings on this property have now been torn down, with 400 North Elizabeth receiving a demo permit on June 6 of this year, and 401 West Ogden getting its walking papers on June 24. Coming soon will be a 33-story residential tower from Weldon Development Group and Mark Goodman & Associates, followed shortly thereafter by a 31-story building.

Approved by the Chicago Plan Commission in May, the two-tower development will contain 724 rental apartments between the two buildings. The East Tower, the taller of the two and containing 383 units, already has a pair of pending permits awaiting approval. The first, with an application date of May 8,  2024, allows for caissons to be drilled. The second, applied for on May 28, allows for the erection of the foundation and superstructure through the 7th floor. The West Tower will not begin construction right away. Archeo Design Studio is the architect behind the development.
