One month after receiving a permit from the City of Chicago to complete construction, 220 North Ada progress has reached the underside of the fourth level. And on July 8, a permit for Phase 2 was issued for the project’s tower crane. That means once the concrete core has grown a little higher, concrete contractor Adjustable Concrete and GC Clayco will tie the crane into the core and insert a few crane sections into the “tower” segment for sufficient height.
Expect to see lots of concrete mixers in and out of the site as crews continue pouring floors. Ultimately, 220 North Ada will reach 29 stories, adding considerable height to the western edge of the West Loop’s Fulton Market District. The next big permit to watch for should be the material hoist, applied for in early June.
220 North Ada’s location at Ada and Fulton will allow future residents access to the CTA’s Green/Pink Line Ashland L station three blocks away, where they can also access bus service for Routes 9 and X9. For east-west travel, Route 20 to the south and Route 65 to the north are each within a four-block walk.
