A permit has been issued for a renovation and alteration project at 6424 South Cottage Grove Avenue in Woodlawn. The permit was issued on June 21 through a self-certification process that took 149 days.
The project involves a first-floor retail tenant buildout and the renovation of four dwelling units on the second and third floors of an existing three-story masonry building with a basement. The building, which was previously vacant, will also undergo a roof replacement and the construction of a new rear wood open porch and stairs.
The reported cost of the project is $252,000. Various fees were paid for the permit, including a $5,606.40 building fee and a $75 zoning fee, totaling $5,681.40. Plans were designed by architect Victor Drapszo.
