The Centennial Forum, at 1125 W Loyola Avenue on the Loyola University Chicago campus in Rogers Park, is currently being demolished. We first visited the site back in May just as demo preparation got underway, and now the two-story concrete structure is about halfway torn down. That’s all the work of American Demolition, which received a demo permit from the City of Chicago on May 23.

The theory at the time was this structure might be demolished from the center of the building outwards. Obviously not the case, and construction is working its way from the west end of the structure towards to the east. Still no word from Loyola on what will replace The Form.
Upon completion of demolition, look for green space on the site until plans are revealed, and construction begins, on what comes next.

Loyola communicated the lot will be used as “green space” until sometime in the future. Which is a wonderful way to show their lack of concern for the Rogers Park community. Loyola demolished several building in the 1990s on the residential side of Loyola Avenue. To this day two of the three lots are just dirt surrounded by chain link that the university uses for parking, construction staging and trash. Plus they just announced they want to tear down another residential building on that same block and keep it empty for the foreseable future.
