Permits have been issued for a new mixed-use development at 545 East 47th Street in Bronzeville. The four-story building plans to blend residential and commercial spaces, and has a budget of $2,700,000. It is being spearheaded by owner Bronzeville Corridor LLC, based in Wilmington, DE.

Designed by Christopher Michalek, a self-certified architect from Chicago, the building plans to feature six residential units, along with mercantile spaces. It will include a private garage and an elevator, but its installation will undergo separate approval through the elevator bureau, ensuring compliance with all necessary regulations.

General construction for the development will be managed by G Corp from Chicago, and masonry work will be a joint effort between D.C.A. Quality Construction Co and T & D Builders Inc. Permit costs totaled $17,545.41.

545 East 47th Street is located steps from bus service for Route 47. Beyond that, the 47th Street CTA Station, which services the Green Line, is a short walk to the west of the property.

  1. $17K in permit costs for a city stamp? That is incredibly inefficient and burdensome… and now back to the regularly scheduled housing-crisis fueled in part by the City of Chicago.

  2. I love seeing neighborhoods like Bronzeville getting humble but significant new development like this. It really will help the city and all its residents to have every neighborhood as vibrant urban experience once again.
