Renovation permits have been issued by the City of Chicago for a new project at 1676 West Bryn Mawr Avenue in Andersonville. Led by owner Yolanda Schachter, the project aims to modernize a dwelling unit within the existing three-story, nine-unit residential building at the address. The project’s budget is approximately $70,000.

The renovation plan was designed by architect Benjamin Kennedy. It focuses on making interior updates to the unit that respect the building’s historic integrity while incorporating contemporary design elements.

General contracting for the renovation will be handled by Alco Construction Company Inc. C & J Electric Co is planned to handle electric installations.

1676 West Bryn Mawr Avenue is located a short walk from bus service for Routes 22 and 50. Beyond that, the Bryn Mawr CTA station, which services the Red Line, is a 16-minute walk to the east of the property.

  1. They had a stop work order for doing work without a permit. They left window openings open to the cold winter while tenants still loved in some units.
And $70K isn’t going to get anything done on this building.

  2. My daughter’s family lived in this dump for several years. The window frames were rotted out. The plumbing and electrical were a mess ..not just in their unit, but throughout the building. City inspectors should look into the guts of this building.. it needs massive repairs.
