The Saint Grand, ranked as the 12th project in our yearly countdown of the tallest construction projects, is nearing the completion of its facade construction at 218 E Grand Avenue in Streeterville. This 21-story mixed-use building is a collaboration between Mavrek Development, GW Properties, Luxury Living, and Double Eagle Development, offering 248 residential units, 45,000 square feet of office space, and 7,500 square feet for retail purposes. NORR designed the 238-foot structure, characterized by its modern facade of dark metal and glass and distinctive columns of protruding glass balconies.

  1. Recently walked by this building and do like the way it fits into the area. One of the few podium style design that I actually think works. Not bad at all.

    • Agree! I still think it could be better, with floors 2 and 3 being active uses facing the street with fully transparent windows. If architects at least just started pushing parking to the back of the podiums and wrapping the garage floors with office, retail or even residential units facing the street, many of these buildings would be much, much better looking/interfacing with pedestrians.

  2. Build 20 more of these around the general area of the loop.
