Permits have been issued by the City of Chicago for a new mixed-use development at 1323 W Taylor Street in Little Italy. The permit for this project, initiated on January 27, 2023, was approved for construction on November 17, 2023.

The project is planned to be a four-story masonry building, which will include a retail unit on the ground floor, an attached five-vehicle garage, and five residential dwelling units above. A rooftop deck is also part of the design, offering outdoor space for residents. SRD Development LLC, the general contractor, will oversee the construction process. Architect Victor Drapszo, based in Chicago, is in charge of the design for this project.

This project has a budget of $1,250,000 and total permit fees amounted to $10,545.27. When complete, residents of 1323 W Taylor Street will be located steps from bus stops for the Route 157 line. Beyond that, the Racine CTA station, which services the Blue Line, will be an 11-minute walk to the north of the property, and the Polk CTA station, which services the Pink Line, will be a 13-minute walk to the west of the property.
