Caisson equipment can be seen at the site of a new 13-story residential building at 1723 S Michigan Avenue in the South Loop neighborhood. This building will house 149 living units and include a parking garage with space for 98 vehicles. The project is being developed by CMK Companies.
This building will replace a former one-story structure, previously occupied by City Club Gymnastics. Gensler is in charge of the replacing building’s design, though no renderings or drawings have yet been made available.
The development’s location is strategically placed for public transportation access. Bus service for Routes 1, 3, and 4 are a short walk from the site. Additionally, Routes 29 and 62, along with multiple train lines including a nearby Metra train station, are also within walking distance.
Brandts Build LLC is leading the construction efforts in collaboration with McHugh Concrete Construction, Norman Mechanical, and Vader National Electric LLC. The project has a designated budget of $25.68 million. As for the timeline, the building is projected to be completed in the timeframe of late 2024 to early 2025.
