A construction permit has been approved for a new early childhood daycare facility at 1745 N Damen Avenue in the Wicker Park neighborhood. The project is a three-story building for early childhood care, replacing a former two-story auto body shop. Kensington School Inc is listed as the owner of the new development.
The filing has confirmed Charles Vincent George Architects as the listed architect of record. A rendering shown in a past article by Block Club Chicago highlights a dark masonry structure with vertical bays, white stone accents, and large loft-like windows.
Transit options for the facility include bus routes nearby, including bus Route 50 via a one-block walk south. Bus Routes 56 and 72 , along with the CTA Blue Line’s Damen Station, are a five-minute walk south. Churchill Field Park, along with “The 606″‘s elevated trail, are within a one-minute walk north.
The Lauder Group LLC has been named as the general contractor for the construction. The reported cost of the project is $3.5 million. An estimated completion date has not been made available.
